QUESTION ASKED BY:  Jerry

Q:

          dear Mom,

My name is Jerry and I'm 49 y/o.  I wet the bed every night
with or without diapers, and pee my pants every chance I get.  I enjoy this, is it normal for someone to enyoy pee- his pants, and peeing the bed?

    Jerry

A:

         Dear Jerry:

yes it is normal for bed wetters to enjoy bed wetting. We have heard it described by some that the warmth of the pee is a secure feeling for some. If you don't mind the extra laundry and this makes you happy we see nothing wrong with it.

QUESTION ASKED BY:    Jill

Q:

When I was 7 yrs old, I started wetting the bed. My parents got tired of changing my sheets every night and one night they got so upset that they diapered me. It was very embarrassing because they did it in front of my 2 older brothers. Several weeks later, my parents found out that I had a medical condition that was causing my wetting (kidney reflux) and they stopped blaming me for wetting the bed but they also stopped diapering me. The doctors told my parents that I should out grow this some day and just to keep a plastic sheet on my bed. Even though I have been hospitalized a few times for bladder/kindey infections, I still wet the bed occasionally and even had an accident in school one day and another at my brother's wedding. I don't like telling my parents when I have wet, so I usually hide my wet sheets and wash them myself. They seem to think I have already outgrown bedwetting but I know I haven't. Now I find myself lying awake at night afraid to go to sleep for fear of wetting. My ?'s are: I have to get up at least once every night to use the bathroom. Is that normal at my age? I need some advice on how to tell my parents that I want to wear diapers again so that maybe I can get a good night's sleep again. How can I do this without them making it a punishment again? I never had daytime accidents until the one at school and the one at the wedding. Both times I was forced to hold "it" longer than normal. Since the accident at school, I am allowed to leave the classroom anytime I need to without permission. Do you think I might need to wear diapers during the day now too? Could I be getting worse and not out-growing this at all? Can you help me?

A:

         Hello Jill:

As far as getting up once a night at your age that is normal with the condition you have (Kidney Reflux). It depends on your bladder control and what type of sleep state you sleep in. But for Kidney Reflux it is normal for you to need to go once a night. We think it's normal up to 3 times a night to have to go.

On your second question about wanting to tell you parents that you want to wear diapers again without it being a punishment, Say you have the medical need and you think diapers at night would help. Also we think you should see you doctor about your condition. A sort of check up. And we don't feel you should hide it, because some conditions can be treated with meds.

The choice of wearing during the day is something we feel you, your doctor and your parents should talk about. And only your doctor can tell you if your condition is getting worse or better. We don't know you or your condition to be able to tell you if you are getting better or not. Good Luck.

Q:

I need to know how to tell my mom that I need to wear diapers.

A:

         Hello Kevin:

We think you need to discuss this with your parents and or your doctor. We can't tell you exactly what to say, That is up to you. All we can suggest is to tell them when they are in a good mood. There is no sure fire way to tell your parents you need or want diapers. You have to take a chance and hope they understand. Only you know your parents. Hope this helps.

Q:

I aways have a hard time pinning my cloth diapers on.Is there an easier way to do this. What is the best way to fold a cloth diaper Thanks John Boy

A:

    Hello John Boy:

The best way we know is to fold the diaper into a triangle, wrap the longest edge around your waist and the v part that should be hanging down between your legs. Pull that part up between your legs and pin it. You should be able to pin all 3 corners together. Hope this helps.

Q:

I wet the bed and mom diapers me 24/7 all the time how do I tell her not to?

A:

    Hello John/Jane Doe

Without an age we can't really give you a good answer. If you are under 18 you should discuss this with your parents. Do you have a true medical need for diapers? You should see your doctor and see what options you have.

QUESTION ASKED BY: ppboy Jerry

Q:

last night I wore one pair of underwear, a diaper, a pair of plastic pants, and a pair of jeans. Is this enough protection from wetting the bed? This morning I woke up and my jeans were soaked, what happened? ppboy jerry

A:

         Hello ppboy Jerry:

You peed too much. We suggest you wear a thicker diaper at night. The diaper you are wearing is not enough as you have found. We think the jeans just hellped to push the pee out of the diaper. You should just wear the diaper with the plastic pants. We think molicare super for a disposable would work for you at night. If you are wear cloth diapers we think you need to use some soakers or just more thicker diapers. But don't use the jeans and the underwear don't do anything for the leaks. If anything they make it worse becuase underwear will wick the pee out of the diaper. So just try a thicker diaper either by itself or with plastic pants, no underwear or jeans to bed. Hope this has helped.

QUESTION ASKED BY: Doug

Q:

About 3 years ago I started bedwetting again so I went online and found a site that sells diapers and bought some Plastic Pants that I wear every night over my underware. Is it possible that my bedwetting could be caused by stress at work?

A:

         Hello Doug:

Yes it can. Bed wetting can be caused by lots of things. Work strees is just one thing. We think you should see a doctor about this to make sure nothing serious is worng. Hope this has helped you.

QUESTION ASKED BY: tim

Q:

I have been wearing dipers, with out anyone knowing. I dont wear them when my family around. I just wear them cause i want to. But how can i ever explain the reason why i chose to wear them to my family? They would not understad. Please help me to make them understand. Thank you.

A:

         Hello Tim:

If you want to lie to them, tell them you have been to the doctor and they said you have a weak bladder and that the doctor felt it would be a good idea to wear protection. Sometimes people can't accept that people need or want to wear protection. And if they ask you why you did not tell them sooner tell them you were embarrassed about it.

Q:

i wear first quality during the day and molicares at night ,im lookin for a place that i might also meet others with an incontinence problem, any ideas, just curious what kind of diapers does sandra wear, mine seem b to be noticable for some reason and boy do i get embarressed, triing to find a brand that keeps me dry but isnt obvious

A:

         Hello Embarressed:

At the time Sandra was wearing Depends. But she no longer wears them. Molicare classic are thin, and quiet. They are also absorbant. You can try thoes. They are blue in color. And if you find you need just a bit more protection you can buy a bag of baby diapers and put them in the molicare as a soaker. We hope this has helped.

Q:

i wear diapers but it doesn't matter how absordant they are or how frequently i change them they are ALWAYS soggey!!!! what can i do??? u people are great i love u all syril xxxxx

A:

         Hello Syril:

Well sence you seem to have such a hard time staying dry we recommend using Molicare Super Plus if you are not already using molicare and put in a pampers size 6 or huggies size 6 to help increase the absorbency of the diaper. You can also try cloth diapers if you are not already using them. You didn't say what diaper you are using so we are really kind of guessing. Hope this helps you.

QUESTION ASKED BY: herb

Q:

how do i tell my mom i wet the bed

A:

         Hello Herb:

First off we feel if you trust your mom enough to tell her your problem it is best to not just dump it on her. Some parents don't react well to that. We recommend that you do tell your mom about the problem. We think the best way to tell your parent is to get the parent alone that you trust and tell the parent you have a wetting problem and have been hiding it for what ever time you have been hiding it for.  Then ask your mom to take you to the doctor. Then ask your mom if she has any questions, so that you can try to help her understand. We know you may not have all the answers, but you may have some to help her see where you are comming from. Hope this helps.

QUESTION ASKED BY: Brandon

Q:

I need a diaper that is super absorbant something that will hold about 52 ounces of urine I pee alot and when I am out in public my diapers always leek where can I find this super absorbant diaper.

A:

Hello Brandon:

Well as far as we know the only diaper that can hold what you need is a cloth diaper with several layers. If you wish to stay with disposables, you can use the molicar line of diaper and mabye put in 1 or 2 pamper or huggies size 6 baby diapers and change more often. There is no diaper other than cloth that can hold that much pee without leaking. Hope we have helped.

QUESTION ASKED BY: Helen

Q:

A few months ago I wet the bed because I was very tired and woke up and just started to wet myself on purpose just because I was sooo tired. I did this on several occassions and just told my mom it was an accident. Now I wet the bed every night and wet my pants sometimes during the day. So I have to wear diapers. Did I cause this problem by wetting the bed a few times on purpose?

A:

Hello Helen:

We don't think so. You should get checked out by your doctor to make sure your wetting is not a medical problem. If there is another problem please feel free to write us back again and we can see if we can help.
